Music Mixing Test

What this test is for

As an Instructor signed up for the Level 2 Instructor Training Program (or above), you're allowed to record your voice over the music and mix the rounds to customise your Awakening Breathwork Journeys.

The musicians have put in countless hours of recording and production to make sure the SOMA Breath music is of the highest quality. To uphold those standards, every instructor needs to pass this test before mixing or altering tracks.

What you'll do

You'll take two music tracks (provided below) and mix them together for a daily-dose, 2-round breathwork journey. Use these two tracks only — no other music.

You'll need to:

• Record the counting in your own voice over the rhythmic breathing section
• Record your voice over the music guiding the meditation and breathwork journey

Your mix must include breathing sounds AND counting, along with meditation guidance — this proves you can put together a quality guided breathwork session. If you're missing either the counting or the breathing sounds, you'll need to resubmit.

You can use whatever breathing rhythms you like, as long as the rhythm is aligned with the beat. Pick whatever theme works for you, and submit a fully guided daily-dose breathwork meditation.

Mix these two tracks for your submission. Play them here or download to use in your DAW (Soundtrap, Ableton, GarageBand — your choice).

What we're listening for

1. Does the counting align with the beat of the music?
2. Are the breathing sounds and counting balanced?
3. Did you record meditation guidance? Is your voice recording clear?
4. Are the levels of your voice over the music balanced?
5. Is the transition from one track to the other smooth?

You must pass all five requirements to pass the test. Otherwise you'll need to resubmit.

How to submit

Once your mix and recording are finished:

1. Add an image or video on top of the audio.
2. Upload to YouTube and set it to "UNLISTED" so it can be evaluated without permissions.
3. Paste your YouTube link in the form below and click Submit.
